Used Book Haul June ’24

Well, we found ourselves at another library sale. Why don’t I do any other book hauls? I told myself I wouldn’t buy any new books this year. Enter the library-sale loophole. The original idea was to NOT buy any books in 2024. Unfortunately, my daughter twisted my arm and convinced me to habitually attend these sales. After all, we are helping the library.

Besides, we have a nice little tradition going. After filling our bag for $5 each, we stop in the library cafe to try one of their seasonal drinks. This time we tried a green tea with fresh strawberries and pomegranate syrup as well as a blended lemonade with more fresh strawberries and rose. Who am I to deny a mother/daughter tradition? Yummy drinks and books that come out to about 20 cents each (Just the books, drink were definitely not 20 cents each).

I wasn’t able to find a link for every book (or vinyl record), but I linked what I could. Sorry to say I didn’t put them in the order I did in the video above. I stuck close to it, but in an order that made sense to me and probably only me…

After we got home and I started to put this books into my Bookshelf app, turns out I bought some duplicates. I figured we had Lord of the Flies already, and we do, but this one is in better condition. So, happy accident!

I also already have Anne of windy Poplars and Rainbow Valley. A few years ago Book Outlet had a beautiful printing by Aladdin Classics (check them out HERE). I was able to snag that collection of the Anne of Green Gables series. The eighth might not match but when I’m reading them it won’t make a difference. While I do appreciate an aesthetically pleasing physical bookshelf, it’s not a priority of mine.

Of course I have a copy of Alexandre Dumas’ jail-break classic, one of my favs, but I don’t think my fifth-grader would appreciate that copy as much as an illustrated version.

I’ve already read Jason, from Anita the Vampire Hunter series, and I knew this. But I also know I didn’t own a copy – until now.

The Winnie the Pooh book is a companion book to a vinyl record that was popular way back when I was a kid. I still have all the Disney records and storybooks from my childhood. We listened to them a lot when my daughter was younger. That was how she recognized that gem. I could not find a copy to link at the time I posted this.

I never show the cookbooks, often times they are the little pamphlets you used to find at the checkout stands in grocery stores or are small self-published books. There are times we find some other random ones that we have kept. But I mostly send them right back to the library for a chance to get bought again. After I photocopy the few recipes that catch our eye. Let me know if you would be interested in seeing them though.

Have you read any off these? Would you? Let me know your thoughts!
